Interview skills for the young

A paradox faces parents and employers alike. Schools are doing more than at any previous time to prepare students for employment. Yet employers still complain that candidates are woefully lacking in “employability skills. Why? Because Schools are measured on exam results so guess where they invest most of their time and money. Mock interview programs are excellent; but the student is never going to see that person again.
What is the likelihood that the tips shared are going to be remembered when a real job interview will be months or years afterwards? That’s like giving a student a 20 minute maths lesson, and expecting that this alone will be sufficient to get him a good G.C.S.E. grade the following year! What is being offered may be excellent but there is too little of it and no continuity.
Working in partnership, schools, employers and training providers can ensure these that these two issues are addressed. If we don’t, we are short changing our young people, and to our own cost.

To succeed in business and personal life, we must constantly develop and improve effective skills for communication with other people. Self improvement starts early with ongoing accumulation of communication skills continuing through life. Whether you’re a school-leaver seeking your first job interview or a senior executive running a global enterprise, your success depends on how effectively you learn and apply the required interpersonal skills and management training.
Effective communication skill can make a difference for you
From a conversation with your partner to effective sales negotiation, communication relies upon the correct match between your personality characteristics and someone else’s. Get it right and you both enjoy the rewards; get it wrong and communication can fail – with disastrous consequences.
